Pot & Vase
I made the little pot as a sort of "proof of concept" using the Jo Sonja range of acrylic paints, these are the irridescent ones, I was inspired to try these by Dalboy (Derek) from the UK Workshop forum who used them to exceptional effect on a bowl.
The vase which is made from oak was used as a demo piece to show dissimilar colouring and shellac application techniques for the south west wales woodturners club in October.

Long time no post.
It's been an age since I posted anything, laziness I guess. Well with the upcoming woodcraft festival at the NBG Wales on the 20th and 21st of August I have been putting together a few new items. Here is a selection.

Woodwork Weekend at the NBG Wales
Another very enjoyable weekend working with Terry Smart of Chestnut products demonstrating colour and finishing techniques, I met lot's of very nice people, many of whom were very taken with the items I had brought along to the show (although no one actually took one home!) But many took cards and I hope if you are one and are reading this, that you had an enjoyable time viewing my work. Many of those items either already are or soon will be available for online purchase at my Etsy shop. (link: https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/Shopswood)
Here are some images of the items yet to be added and a shot of the set up we used.

Olive Ash Bowl
A few posts back I put up some pictures of three fresh cut bowls, one with very pretty grain, well, it's dried out and is now a finished product, and here is how it looks along with the green bowl shots below.

Rivers of Gold
It's been sometime since I made a post, I've not had much to put up. However, my latest project was a joint one, assisted by Richard my son!
Sometime back he called me into his own shed and showed me a strange device constructed from a microwave transformer, the two contacts complete with croc clips looked a little heath robinson, but he knows what he is doing. The clips were attached to two small nails driven into a flat board about 18" long, a path was made between the nails with a solution of bicarb and the power switched on, the resultant track burned an interesting pattern across the wood. Thus the idea to use this to decorate a bowl was born, and this is the result.
